From Our Farm: Dent Corn


We take pride in every ingredient we put in our dishes. With that, we love knowing exactly where our food comes from and we strive to use local ingredients whenever possible. And nothing gets more local and farm to table than Butter + Salt’s dent corn from our farm in Gardnerville, Nevada.

Once the corn is ripe enough to eat, a small indentation forms at the top of each kernel - hence the name. Dent corn and dent corn-based dishes are fall staples in our kitchen. We especially love dent corn since it's a great source of antioxidants. Dent corn is perfect to create our handmade cornmeal and polenta because of it’s soft starch and its “typical” corn flavor.
